MLD and the Lymphatic System
Gentle Healing Through the Lymphatic System
A new offering rooted in wellness and integration
I’m excited to share a new type of bodywork I now offer—Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD). This is a gentle, wellness-focused treatment designed to support your lymphatic system, which plays a vital role in keeping your body balanced and healthy.
I combine MLD with two powerful therapies—craniosacral therapy and visceral manipulation (a gentle organ-focused technique). Together, these three create a deeply integrative session that supports your nervous system, your organs, and your body’s natural detox process.

Why is the lymphatic system so important?
Think of your lymphatic system as your body's second circulatory system—but without a pump like the heart. It's responsible for clearing waste, toxins, and excess fluid from your tissues. It plays a huge role in your immune system, fluid balance, and even how your body absorbs fats from your digestive system.
Because it doesn’t have a pump, the lymphatic system relies on movement—like muscle contractions, breathing, and even gravity—to circulate lymph. Its natural rhythm is about six pulses per minute. After a session of MLD, this rhythm can increase significantly for up to 24 hours, helping your body filter and flush out toxins more efficiently.
Signs your lymphatic system might be stressed include:
  • Swelling in the legs or arms (especially post-surgery or injury)
  • Puffy face after surgery or drinking alcohol
  • Sluggish immune response or frequent illness
  • Brain fog, fatigue, or skin issues
What are the benefits of MLD?
Even just one session of MLD can support your immune system and help your body feel more balanced. Many clients also report:
  • Reduced headaches
  • Clearer skin
  • Deeper, more restful sleep
  • A general sense of wellbeing
If your body has a lot to detox, you may want to start slowly—sometimes healing stirs things up before settling.

For long-term benefit, MLD often works best in a series of sessions, tailored to your body’s needs. I also love teaching clients simple self-care techniques like self-MLD, breathwork, dry brushing, movement, and proper hydration to help keep things flowing between sessions. (Remember—dilution is the solution!)

If this feels like something your body could benefit from, I’d love to talk with you more. Feel free to reach out with any questions, or to schedule a session.
